About The Book
The Time for Phonics Series has been developed from the guidelines of the English and Reading Curriculum. It has been created by an experienced teacher/author who has written many other eductional resources for young children.
Each Book has a wealth of graded activities with colour illustrations to make the process more meaningful and enjoyable for children. As activities in each book are completed, the child will develop proficient word attack and literacy skills. Time for Phonics Book 4: Applying phonics in reading and spelling extends the phonetic approach to a higher level with more word families, more blends and some basic spelling rules. Phonetic irregularities are explained as the student works towards developing proficient reading skills.
An understanding of how to break compound words, homographs and homophones into syllables is a skill that will result in the student becoming a proficient reader. A variety of activities including word puzzles are provided to help extend skills and knowledge in reading and spelling. The personal word box will continue to provide a vehicle for individual learning based on student needs.
